I had read that Radio Shack was in trouble and my personal experience in their stores seemed to confirm this. A lot of this is a sign of the times - our "throw away" society doesn't fix or repair anything, kids don't build the projects on circuit boards that I did when I was a boy, and today's youth has their nose buried in video games. It seems that in recent years their focus shifted from electronics parts to radio-controlled cars and helicopters, phones and accessories, and batteries. However, I stopped there last night to buy a cable and was greeted by "Store Closing" signs. It must have happened fast - the list of stores that were closing was only released yesterday! I will miss the store; it was five minutes away and wonderfully convenient to buy a fuse, solder, wire or switches.
