PAT locos #6690 and #6691 have served on many railroads. Built for Southern Pacific in 1953, these engines were then bought by the Wellsville, Addison, and Galeton RR before being sold to the Port Authority of Allegheny County. They were used on the PATrain between Versailles and Pittsburgh on B&O trackage from 1975 to 1989. Ridership declined so the train was discontinued. After it's use on PAT, the units were sold to CDOT and painted in the New Haven paint scheme, then sold to RPCX. Finally about a year ago the units were sold to the Galvaston Railroad Museum and sent to South Carolina for painting. About a month ago they were released in shining Santa Fe colors. They will be on display in Texas in November. Here's a link to a video of the unveiling.

There's no mistaking those locomotives! They look great, although I liked the PATrain colors best. The pristine silver paint really shows the details of the fuel tanks and trucks. Thanks!

How about that. I saw those Santa Fe units in some other media but didn't get the connection. Of course, you train nerds would see it right off, ';o) That PATrain would be one cool unit to model!!!
